SUSTAINABILITY
All FIM events have mandatory regulations and penalties for non-compliance with the environmental protection rules described in the FIM Environmental Code. Also, they have guidelines for organising high-impact events based on a series of mitigation measures to protect natural resources and support the SDGs’ achievement. The FIM has a highly trained technical team to carry out sound measurements so that participating motorcycles do not exceed the limits allowed by technical and environmental regulations. In addition, each event sanctioned by the FIM is attended by an environmental steward who has been trained by expert instructors from the FIM Academy in matters of sustainability, who has passed a rigorous selection and evaluation system, and who must have an international environmental commissioner license.
Each rider must respect the FIM Environmental Code and must be equipped with a protective mat under their motorcycle. Homologated mats will be available to buy on the paddock. A working fire extinguisher is mandatory at each service area. ( N16 SR ISDE 2022).
Sound level control and noise pollution prevention
FIM motorcycle sound measurement specialists perform technical inspections on all participant’s motorcycles, including decibel measurements, using advanced equipment and measurement methods. The event counts on an experienced Sound Control Officer (SCO) and/or an acoustic engineer, if applicable. Additionally, Exhaust pipes and silencers must fulfil all the requirements concerning sound control (art 1.79 AND 1.31 Enduro ISDE technical rules).
The sound system in the paddock is also regulated and adequate to minimise the impact.
Protection of soil and watercourses
All participants must use an environmental mat regulated under the specifications of the FIM Environment Code both in the Parc Fermé and in all controls and refuelling areas. (Specific conditions apply in each event and are described in the supplementary regulations)
Motorcycle washing areas must also have adequate drainage and surfaces. (FIM Environmental Code). Inside the paddock, motorcycle washing is prohibited. The organisation will provide GPS points to identify the vehicle washing areas. In addition, the organisation will provide everything necessary for the drainage facilities both in the paddock and on the campsite.
Care of terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity and watercourses in detail
When the circuit must cross a minor stream, the organisation must build temporary bridges because it is forbidden to drive along the bed of a stream even to cross it. Therefore, there are several dozen bridges that the organisation has built.
Careful selection of the paddock, loops and other competition areas
The organisation of ISDE 2022 has carried out an environmental impact study by a firm specialising in motorcycling events and who also carried out this same study for the 2017 ISDE event. This study has been carried out jointly in collaboration with the decentralised services of the State with territorial jurisdiction for the authorisation of the event.
All routes have the respective authorisations and a complete regenerative and protection plan, especially for the most sensitive areas.
Riders will also receive detailed information to circulate in the most vulnerable areas, where the vulnerable areas will visibly identify.
Strict control of the waste generated
In the paddock, refuelling areas and time control camps, specific waste sorting containers will be emptied daily. In addition, particular waste (rags, oil, tires etc.) will be removed by a specialised company at the end of the event.
Paddock Rules ISDE 2022+
1/ It is strictly forbidden to dump your waste waters on the ground. Failure in applying this rule while expose you to direct prosecution by the competent local authorities (environment police). Teams are invited to collect their waste waters in a tank and to empty them at the right spot at located at the paddock entrance and clearly indicated.
Raise awareness of the participants about responsible behaviour
All participants in FIM competition are called to respect and comply with current regulations.
In the tests and paddock, an audio message, produced by the French Federation, will be delivered regularly by the speaker at the destination of the spectators for security and respect for nature and the environment.
Promotion and use of Local Product
The organisation will cater for officials and organisers using the supply of local products.
Inclusion
This is an event that is also designed for the participation of women. Also, some areas have access for people with restricted mobility and special parking.
Climate action
Promotion of sustainable mobility within the paddock. Carpool promotion. The event will be neutralised (scope 1 and 2) by planting plots with native trees.
