As the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations nears, it is France who will arrive at the ninety-ninth edition of the race in Bergamo, Italy, as defending World Trophy champions.
France has a long and illustrious history with the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations. As a nation that holds a deep passion and love for Enduro, they regard the 6DAYS® as one of their most important events on the racing calendar.
From 2008 until 2017, they enjoyed a golden era in the 6DAYS®, consistently proving themselves as the team to beat. Claiming seven victories in ten editions, while enjoying a hat trick of wins from 2008-2010, and again from 2012-2014, they truly made the event their own.
However, as other nations grew stronger and France’s leading riders grew older or retired, success from 2018 onwards proved harder to come by. As the years passed, not even the advantage of racing on home soil in 2022 would see them return to the top step of the podium.
Finally, against the odds in 2024, France won. With the 6DAYS® in northern Spain developing into one of the wettest, muddiest and most demanding of 6DAYS® seen for some time, France rose to the occasion.
From the very beginning, their World Trophy riders of Theo Espinasse (Sherco), Hugo Blanjoue (Honda), Leo Le Quere (TM MOTO) and Julien Roussaly (Sherco) excelled.
On Day One, all four riders finished inside the top six overall to put themselves into the race lead by over two minutes. And while that initial performance came as a surprise to some, inside the French team it was not.
Rallying together as a team in true 6DAYS® spirit, the French were working in harmony as one unit. From walking the special tests together to sharing information and simply bonding as a group, it elevated their riding on the track.
For the remainder of the week, France controlled the race. They doubled their advantage on Day Two to four minutes, and as they cleared the halfway point in the race on Day Three, they had distanced their rivals by seven minutes.
With just the Final Cross Test on Day Six left to run, a long-awaited French victory looked imminent. Not even the horrendous weather conditions could hold them back from the top step of the podium. Finally, France had won the 6DAYS® again.
For 2025 and the 6DAYS® Italia, France are playing their winning combination of riders once again in Espinasse, Blanjoue, Le Quere and Roussaly. United as a team, the defending champions will be tough to beat.
The 6DAYS® Italia takes place in Bergamo, from 24-29 August.
