A Sustainable ISDE 2025 for all

At every level—from the FIM to the National Federation Organiser and Local Clubs—there is a shared commitment to uphold the highest environmental standards. All activities are conducted in full compliance with local regulations, the FIM Environmental Code, and the four principles of Sport for Nature. Environmental protection is not optional: all FIM-sanctioned events include mandatory rules and penalties for non-compliance.

To responsibly manage high-impact events like 6DAYS® Italia 2025, organizers follow detailed mitigation guidelines designed to safeguard natural resources and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A specialised technical team ensures that all participating motorcycles meet strict sound limits, in line with both technical and environmental regulations.

Each event is overseen by a certified Environmental Steward—trained through the FIM Academy’s rigorous sustainability programme and licenced to enforce international standards. During the Bergamo edition, a full commission of experts will be on-site to minimize environmental impact and actively promote positive outcomes for the local ecosystem and community.

Sound level control and noise pollution prevention

FIM motorcycle sound measurement specialists perform technical inspections on all participants’ motorcycles, including decibel measurements, using advanced equipment and measurement methods. The event counts on an experienced Sound Control Officer (SCO) and/or an acoustic engineer, if applicable. Additionally, Exhaust pipes and silencers must fulfil all the requirements concerning sound control (art 1.79 AND 1.31 Enduro ISDE technical rules).

The sound system in the paddock is also regulated and adequate to minimise the impact.

Minimise noise from the operation of competition, support, and organisation vehicles, following monitoring to detect if allowable limits are exceeded and to prevent damage to human health and/or local wildlife.

This year, under the leadership of the Italian Federation, there will be sound monitoring and air quality analysis with automatic equipment during the whole six-day event.

The acoustic impact of the event will be assessed by positioning six remote continuous noise monitoring units throughout the entire race period, located around the course. In addition to the noise matrix, there is also continuous monitoring of the atmosphere component during the event, through a remote monitoring matter,  CO, NOX, and SO2.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

The organisers carried out the respective Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) (Valutazione di Compatibilità Ambientale), including wildlife and geological, and the respective mitigation measures.

The EIA is a mandatory document at the national level, which aims to identify, predict, assess and mitigate potential environmental impacts that a project or activity may cause in the short, medium, and long term. It is a technical-administrative preventive procedure.

Selection of routes

The event features a curated selection of routes that meet the demands of local authorities while respecting protected places.

Respect for the National and local patrimony.

Local authorities will be coordinating to restrict access to the protected areas.

Designated spectator areas have been established to enhance safety and protect the sensitive areas of the event.

Protecting Biodiversity and Ground Integrity at 6DAYS Italy 2025

Safeguarding biodiversity and preserving the integrity of the terrain are central to the environmental strategy of 6DAYS® Italia 2025. The event is designed to minimise ecological disruption through a series of targeted measures that prioritise sensitive habitats and responsible land use.

Key Biodiversity Measures:

  • Sensitive Area Exclusion: Trails and paths identified as ecologically sensitive are excluded from timed and competitive stages. This ensures that vulnerable flora and fauna are not disturbed by event activities.
  • Fauna and Flora Protection Plan: A dedicated conservation plan is in place for the start, finish, and service areas, focusing on minimising human impact and preserving local ecosystems.
  • Wastewater Management: All wastewater generated by caravans and paddock operations is collected and treated at a designated facility within the venue grounds, preventing contamination of natural water sources.

Ground Protection Measures:

  • Soil Restoration Commitment: Any soil altered during the event will be restored to its original condition, ensuring long-term land health and usability.
  • Spill Prevention Protocols: Staff handling oils, fuels, and other hazardous substances are trained in spill prevention and emergency response to avoid ground contamination.
  • Environmental Mats: All participants must use FIM-approved environmental mats in the Parc Fermé, control points, and refuelling areas to prevent soil pollution. Specific conditions are outlined in the event’s supplementary regulations.
  • Controlled Washing Zones: Motorcycle washing areas are equipped with proper drainage and sealed surfaces, in compliance with the FIM Environmental Code, to prevent runoff and protect the ground.

An Environmental Map is available via the sporting application and at the event secretary’s office, providing clear guidance on protected zones and sustainability protocols.

Through these measures, 6DAYS® Italia 2025 reinforces its commitment to environmental responsibility, ensuring that motorsport and nature can coexist in harmony.

Respect for Flora and Fauna

Protecting biodiversity is of utmost importance to the organisation. A plan to protect the fauna and flora of the study area should be implemented, focusing on the places where the start, finish, and supply sectors are located.

Actions

  • Preserve the existing flora in areas directly and indirectly affected by the project.
  • This even adheres to the four principles of Sport of Nature available in the FIM Environmental Code
  • Plant species extraction and cutting are prohibited in direct and indirect areas.
  • Mountain trail restoration.
  • Sustainable forest management.
  • Planting native species.

It is not allowed to burn cleared vegetation, waste, or any other materials that can easily catch fire in an open space.

It is strictly forbidden to collect and/or extract wildlife. Any such activity is prohibited.

Strict control of the waste generated.

The waste management of the event will be coordinated with the local Municipalities. A dedicated personnel and equipment have been prepared to carry out the task.

In the case of the Paddock, the operation of collecting and transitory disposal of waste is carried out by a company hired for special, hazardous waste.

Paddock Rules ISDE

1/ It is strictly forbidden to dump your wastewater on the ground. Failure in applying this rule while expose you to direct prosecution by the competent local authorities (environment police). Teams are invited to collect their waste waters in a tank and to empty them at the right spot at located at the paddock entrance and clearly indicated.

Raise awareness of the participants about responsible behaviour

All participants in the FIM competition are called to respect and comply with current regulations.

In the tests and paddock, an audio message produced by the National Federation will be delivered regularly by the speaker to the spectators, ensuring security and respect for nature and the environment.

Paper Consumption Reduction

All results and regulations will be managed through a special mobile application, significantly reducing paper consumption.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

The event has been aligned with the SDGs

Climate responsibility:

As part of the sustainability strategy for the International Six Days of Enduro (6DAYS® Italia 2025), the event aims to become a climate-responsible event. The process begins with a rigorous measurement of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the event, following the ISO 14067 standard to ensure accuracy and consistency. Once the emissions are quantified, targeted mitigation actions are implemented to reduce the environmental footprint—such as optimising transportation, energy use, and resource management. Any remaining emissions are then offset through certified carbon credits and potentially through local environmental initiatives, reinforcing the event’s commitment to climate responsibility. To guarantee transparency and credibility, the entire process undergoes third-party certification, positioning 6DAYS® Italia 2025 as a model for sustainable motorsport events.

Social dimension

6DAYS® Italia 2025 embraces a strong social commitment, ensuring the event is inclusive, accessible, and community-focused. Designed to encourage the participation of women in motorsport, the event promotes diversity both on and off the track. Accessibility is a key priority: specific areas in the paddock and selected test zones will be equipped for individuals with restricted mobility, including dedicated parking and tailored services to ensure a comfortable experience for all. The organization is also proud to collaborate with associations representing people with disabilities, fostering meaningful inclusion throughout the event. In addition, a coordinated plan to donate surplus food will help support local charities and reduce waste, reinforcing the event’s dedication to social responsibility and sustainability.
