There is nothing quite like the thrill of an international competition taking place in your country. But when that ‘home race’ happens to be as historic and unique as the FIM International Six Day’s Enduro (ISDE), that’s truly something to savoir. This year, as the longest running off road motorcycle race on the FIM calendar celebrates its ninety-seventh edition in South America, it is Argentinian riders, plus their support crews and fans, who get to enjoy a super-special home race, as the 6DAYS® takes place in San Juan, Argentina.
For competitors and fans alike the 6DAYS® is truly special. As it is every year, travelling to the 6DAYS® is quite the journey, especially for teams venturing to Argentina from Europe, Australia, United States and even further afield. For home nation Argentina, it is a shorter trip to the Villicum Circuit north of San Juan, but one that is every bit as exciting, nonetheless.
Pulling out all the stops, Argentina will field a team in all three major categories this year – the FIM World Trophy, FIM Junior World Trophy, and the FIM Women’s World Trophy. Set to pull on their national jersey, Nicolas Kutulas (KTM), Cristian Arriegada (KTM), Adolfo Scaglioni (Husqvarna) and Tomas Gomez (GASGAS) are gearing up for one of the biggest races of their lives as they represent Argentina in the World trophy competition. Well-practiced when it comes to racing on the terrain they will face next week, expect a strong start on day one for the four riders.
In the FIM Junior World Trophy class, Argentina is represented by Lucas Godoy (KTM), Cristobal Sola (KTM) and Jose Maria Mercado (KTM). Stepping up to compete on home soil in enduro’s most iconic event, the 2023 6DAYS® offers all three riders an incredible opportunity to make their mark, competing under the watchful eye of the world’s media and teams.
For 2023, eight teams will contest the FIM Women’s World Trophy category. Argentina aims to be well-placed with Carla Scaglioni (Husqvarna), Julieta Jerez (Husqvarna) and Melina Bretillot (Honda). In what always proves to be a long and demanding competition local knowledge will prove essential as they battle through each day.
While the World Trophy team competition takes the majority of the limelight, it is the Club Team Award that truly makes the 6DAYS® special. Bringing together professional and amateur riders alike, racing alongside one other and across the exact same terrain, is what makes the 6DAYS® so unique.
Of the two hundred and thirty-seven riders entered in the Club category, more than one hundred of them are from Argentina. A bucket-list race for many, it is the goal of completing six days of racing and over fifteen hundred kilometres of riding that will make this year’s 6DAYS® so memorable.
The ninety-seventh edition of the 6DAYS® takes place in San Juan, Argentina from 6 to 11 November.
