As excitement builds ahead of this year’s FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) in San Juan, Argentina, the ninety-seventh edition will see a return to the location of the 2014 6DAYS®.

While the winners of this year’s race will not be decided until the final day motocross races are completed on 11 November, back in 2014 it was France who took the FIM World Trophy team honours in San Juan. Leading the way, Pela Renet enjoyed a perfect week.

Celebrating the memorable World Trophy team win with France, Pela also won the Enduro2 category and the overall individual category on his Husqvarna.

“San Juan in Argentina was my final time in the World Trophy team for France. It’s one that holds a lot of very special memories for me,” recalls Renet.

“France won the World Trophy category and I won Enduro2 and finished as best overall individual. It was the dream race and the perfect result. That was the third time I took the overall. I won in Germany and Sardinia too.

“The race is special. Not just because it is important to do your best for your team and country, but the individual result too. If you win it means you are the best in the world at that moment because all the best riders are there.

“I remember the race well, he continues. “We were there for fifteen days. The Argentina fans are so nice. South America is like that. They love motorsport. They are very passionate for it and support all the riders regardless of where they are from.”

Renet has since hung up his professional racing boots and now prefers to watch the action unfold from the side-lines, but the 6DAYS® will always hold dear to him.

With last year’s race held in France, it was enough to lure him out of retirement and compete in the Club Team Award alongside long-time friends Antoine Meo and Christophe Nambotin.

“It was super nice to return to the 6DAYS® last year. It was unplanned as I wasn’t supposed to race, and it came together at the last minute.

“But returning to the track with my old teammates and friends Antoine Meo and Christophe Nambotin was special. Adding in that it was a home race made for such a fun week. We shared a lot of nice moments with fans and friends.”

Always hoping to see another French victory in Argentina, Pela feels Great Britain, as the defending champions, could be the nation to beat.

“The result in Argentina is tough to call. On paper there are a lot of good teams. Naturally I want to see France succeed. But I think Great Britain will be strong. It would be a nice story to see France win again.”
